- Tracy Mkhize, COO of Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) is a seasoned and experienced Convention Centre, Sustainability, Governance, Risk Management, Hotel, Casino, Operations, and Food & Beverage Executive with over two decades in the hospitality industry. As a CTICC Executive member, she is involved in developing the CTICC strategic plan and setting strategic priorities for the business. She is accountable for managing the operations and identifying and mitigating both strategic and operational risks for the CTICC.
In 2018 she was recognised as one of the Top 40 Women in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry due to her leadership and contribution to the MICE industry. She is proficient in ensuring optimum operational management, customer service, and general leadership at the CTICC.
She is an independent Non-Executive Director and Chairperson of Cape Town Tourism (CTT) providing Board oversight to CTT destination management. She is skilled in building cross-functional teams, demonstrating exceptional communication, and making critical decisions to solve problems. She allows her team space to find their own solutions to problems and not micromanage them, this develops trust and is key to instilling strong leadership traits. She has knowledge, experience and application of the Municipal Finance Management Act, 2003, and has received training on Municipal regulations achieving the Minimum Competency Level.
She enjoys mentoring hospitality entrepreneurs and helping them implement customer-driven strategic planning to sustain their businesses. A Wits University alumni, she is not only passionate about upskilling others but also invests in upskilling herself to ensure continuous improvement. She is passionate about contributing her skills and expertise to the recovery and sustainability of the tourism industry from the impact of Covid-19. She has extensive work experience creating business value to the highest standard and is well-versed in developing and implementing profound business strategies.
